Betty joined the love of her life, Bob, on December 23, 2020. She was born in Mason County, West Virginia on August 7, 1930 to the late Harry and Grace Pickens. She was a sister to the late Dorothy Ruth. Betty and Bob were married in 1947, moving to Johnstown in 1958 to raise their four children. Always being involved with the school, Betty and Bob followed the Johnstown band for many years carrying band instruments in the back of the red Ford truck. After all four children graduated from Johnstown, they turned their sites to following their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many ballgames they attended and supported Johnstown Johnnies and the Northridge Vikings.
Betty fought a hard fight until her last breath. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her smiling face, especially her fur-baby GiGi, four children, Teri (Chuck), Joey, Karen, And Bob (Bonnie), eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends and extended family. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, and granddaughter Tammy.
Although Betty’s medical issues were Non-COVID-19 related, the family will abide by the COVID-19 guidelines. There will be a graveside service at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Green Hill Cemetery, and no social gatherings to follow the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Licking County Aging Program 1058 E. Main Newark, OH 43055 (Thank you Amy and Sandy) or to the Johnstown/Northridge food bank.
