Jacqueline Marie McAlister

Jacqueline Marie McAlister, who was born August 6, 1927, passed from this world into the arms of our Lord on April 14. 2015. She was the eldest daughter of Wilbur R. McAlister and Cecile G. McAlister of Columbus, Ohio. She is predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Janet McAlister Ellis, Carole Anne McAlister, and Michael J. McAlister. She is survived by her sister, Lois McAlister Smith of Columbus, Ohio, her brother Wilbur R. (Louise) McAlister Jr. of Fowler, Ohio and her sister, Patrica (Don) McAlister Dwight of Austin, Texas. Jackie also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, but most especially John and Sue Ellis of Newark, Ohio, who have looked after Jackie and her mother for more than 30 years and tenderly cared for her the last months of her life.

Jackie was an executive secretary at Papermate Pen Company in Irving, California and the private secretary to the owner of a large insurance company in Columbus, Ohio. She was an avid reader and owned literally hundreds of books, some of which she read twice if she really loved the book. Jackie loved her cats, planting flowers, tending her garden and feeding the birds. She will be sorely missed by all of us who loved her so well. We know we shall see her again when we are all like clouds in the heavens. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday April 17, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Church of the Ascension in Johnstown, Ohio. Interment will be at St Joseph Cemetery, Columbus. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road in Newark in Jacqueline’s memory.
