Janis Faye McElhaney (86) of Johnstown, Ohio, passed away October 15, 2020 at her home. She was born April 23, 1934 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Roy and Bessie Thompson. Janis retired as the head cashier after 25 years of hard work from Big Bear in Waverly, Ohio. Janis is survived in passing by her loving children Steve (Diane) Cupps, Jamie (Melanie) Cupps, Brenna Cupps, and Sharon (David) Collins; step-children Paul (Crystal) McElhaney and Laraine (Arlen) Weaver; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild on the way; siblings Dan Thompson, Tom Thompson, and Jane (Dick) Fisher; caregiver Melissa (Tim) Harvey; special friends Bob (Judy) Foster; and a host of other friends, family, and loved ones. She is preceded in passing by her beloved husband Paul McElhaney, son David Cupps, and siblings Eugene Thompson, Larry Thompson, Roy Thomson, Geneva Graham, Joanne Ayers, Susan Thompson, Jim Thompson, and Joyce Thompson. Friends and family may call from 10:00am – 12:00pm Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Crouse-Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home 225 N. Main St. Johnstown, Ohio 43031. Immediately following the calling hours there will be a funeral service. Burial is to follow at Green Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
