Mary Jo (Latz) Dodderer left this earthly realm peacefully at 3:18 p.m. Tuesday October 5, 2021, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 67 years old. It would be wrong to say that Mary Jo lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Mary Jo stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in Mary Jo. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight. She was born to the late Joseph and Mary Latz, March 11, 1954, In Wheeling, West Virginia. Mary Jo graduated from Wheeling Central Catholic High School in 1972 and received an associates degree in Nursing at West Virginia Community College. Mary Jo retired from Riverside Hospital in 2018 where she served as an oncology nurse on 7 yellow. She was admired by coworkers and patients alike. Her natural gift was always serving people which was exemplified through mentoring and being a preceptor to many nurses, sharing the wisdom and experience that she gained over the years. Outside of loving her career and children, she was a die hard Steelers fan. You could be sure to see her rooting her team in full Black and yellow with a terrible towel in Hand. Go Steelers.
