Robert J Swaney

Robert James Swaney, 98, passed away on February 3, 2026 at home. He was the husband of Leota Pauline “Polly” Swaney. They shared 62 years of marriage together. Born in Sunbury, Ohio, he was the son of Farris James Swaney and Ruth Lawless (Swaney) Lowry.

He served in the United States Marine Corp at the end of World War II. Bob retired from Burroughs Corporation as a service manager.

After retiring, he moved to Hobe Sound, Florida, went back to school to become an electrician, and went back to work. Later, he became a security guard at a gated community to get free golf, one of his favorite hobbies. He also enjoyed reading westerns. When his eyesight failed, he listened to his westerns with books for the

blind.

He was a member of the First United Church in Hobe Sound, Florida until moving back to Ohio. Over the last couple years, he enjoyed listening to Genoa Baptist Church services in Westerville.

Bob loved spending time with his wife and children. He will be remembered for his loving, caring spirit. He is survived by his children Jennifer (Larry) Resnik, LeeAnn (Dave) Cramer, John (Christy) Swaney, several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Polly. There is no planned memorial service currently. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity.
