Abe was born one of the twelve children of Joshua and Mamie Steed in Manchester, Georgia and attended school there. He served in the U.S Air Force and fought in the Korean and Vietnam wars during his twenty-six years of service and retired as a Master Sergeant. He is a member of the VFW as well. After retiring from the military, he worked in civil service for twenty more years.
Abe accepted Christ in an early age and was a faithful servant for the Lord. He enjoyed walking, traveling, and spending time with family.
Abe was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Osby, Frank, Wilson, Albert, Jim Henry Steed, Mary Lou Hillman (Willie), Gennie Mae Prather (Leroy), Susie Lee Entzminger (Harry), Lucille McGill (Brady), and wives Nancy Miller Steed and Jeannine Alice Steed.
Abe leaves many loving memories to: his son, Abe Steed Jr. (Elizabeth); five grandchildren, Justin Walker (Kit), Angeliyah Fredette (Daniel), Alicia Steed, Monique Steed, and Maliyah Steed; six great-grandchildren, La’shae Walker, Justin Walker Jr. (USMC), Annaliese Walker, Donovan Ryan Weitzel, Cameron Pierre Anthony Beckwith, and Gabrielle Elyssa Monique Steed; one great great-grandchild, Khalil Patterson Jr; his brother, Adam Steed; his sister, Dorothy Mathis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday September 14, 2018 from 12:00PM- 1:00PM. Funeral Services will begin immediately following at 1:00pm, Tara Garden Chapel, Jonesboro, Georgia. Burial will take place at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, California.
