James Paul Powell

Mr. James Paul Powell, age 93 of Christian City in Union City GA was promoted to Heaven on Tuesday, January 8, 2013. He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Powell, his son James D. Powell, his daughter Juanita Coppedge, his parents, Leonard and Pearl Powell, his siblings, three brothers, Lacy D. Powell, Travis Powell, and Joe Powell; three sisters, Elizabeth Powell, Ethel Lamey and Mary Lee Garrett. He is survived by two sons, Roger and Sharon Powell of McDonough, Paul and Ruby Powell of Hogansville, one daughter Marylon and Wayne Bruce of Locust Grove, 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Mr. Powell proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Aleutian Islands. He was a master plumber by trade and taught a Sunday School Class for many years at South Metro Ministries Church of God in Sharpsburg, GA. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Thursday, January 10th from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the Fayette Family Church of God in Fayetteville on Friday, January 11th from noon until 1 o’clock prior to his service which will be at 1:00 at the church.
