Tom started his journey in Chattanooga, TN in 1916 and then traveled to Connecticut and Maine then moving to Jonesboro at age 16. He moved to Riverdale where in 1941 he married Ruth Sears, his wife of 68 years, and raised a son, Tom G. Donnelly. After a short illness, his journey ended on August 6, 2012 in Seattle, WA where he had recently moved to be near his son. After Marist College, Tom played baseball at Georgia Tech and later on local semi-pro teams. It was while playing baseball that he met Ruth. His love for her and baseball were constants in his life. Tom was a highly decorated 1st Lt. in the 39th Inf. Div. and saw action from Normandy to the Huertgen Forest. He could have sat out the war with a bad knee, but his hard headed devotion to a family tradition of military service propelled him to rehab his knee, and retake his military physical. Throughout his life, he remained proud of the Army and his service to his country. Tom liked a good joke, a good drink, and good friends. He will be missed by many. He is survived by his son Tom G. Donnelly and his daughter in law Susan Parker of Seattle, WA. Services will be held at Tara Garden Chapel 681 North Ave, Jonesboro, GA 30236 on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 11AM. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery located in Forest Park GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, August 13, 2012 between the hours of 6PM-8PM
