I considered Betty my best friend in the 8th grade, at Frayser and at Floyd Ave church of Christ.   Many sleep-overs were full of laughter as we "camped" in her family's driveway and rode motorcycles by day.  I even went camping with her family on Sardis Lake, my 1st camping trip ever.  We lost touch as I moved out of the neighborhood, but I happened to speak to her by phone just a few years ago--as I was requesting a squad car to investigate an issue in our neighborhood.  "Germantown Police, Betty Rudy". I just had to ask if she was my long lost friend.  Didn't talk long because she was on the clock, but I was so glad to reconnect!  I vividly remember the whole family and wish you all the best and our prayers are with you in the loss of sweet Betty.

How your little light did shine while you were here.

Missing you greatly, Betty.  Your life was too short, but undeniably well lived. Thanks for the memories, and for indelibly imprinting yourself on my heart.  Your love reached out to so many who didn't feel lovable, and made them feel like they were somebody. The rainbow that appeared during your final hour here on earth reminded me that God had this under control, and that you were going to be with Him.  I will see you there after my time here is done.  My prayers are with Mary, Chuck and Jack, and with all those left behind who loved Betty, and whose lives were enriched by having hers entwined in theirs.

May all the Angels and Saints pray for Betty and for your family. I worked with Betty when she was with Germantown. I was deeply Sadden to hear about her death. May God grant you peace and comfort in your time of Grief.
