Catherine Rodier (née Shinnick), age 86, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026. A beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Catherine leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, laughter, and fierce devotion to her family.
Catherine made her home in Jupiter, Florida, and previously lived in Manhasset, New York, where she and Ed raised their three children: Kerry Rodier, Scott Jiven, and Carole Dauch. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Rodier of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York, and by her cherished grandson, Séamus Gray of Jupiter, Florida, who passed away three years ago at the age of 21.
She is lovingly survived by her daughter Kerry Rodier and grandson Déaglán Gray; her son Scott Jiven and daughter-in-law Karen Jiven, along with their children Lisa Jiven and Julie Jiven; and her daughter Carole Dauch and son-in-law Fred Dauch, along with Carole Dauch’s children Timothy Diltz and Allison Diltz.
Born and raised in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, Catherine came from a large and loving Irish family of eleven brothers and sisters, all of whom she treasured deeply. Family was the center of her world, and she carried that love throughout her life.
In Manhasset, Catherine worked as a real estate agent and was known for her warmth, determination, and gift for connecting with people. She was an incredible athlete whose competitive spirit and energy were passed down to her children.
Catherine loved to dance, loved to sing—even if she never quite knew all the words—and brought joy and laughter wherever she went. She was kind-hearted, generous, and always willing to help anyone in need. At the same time, she was a strong, no-nonsense woman who protected and cared for those she loved with unmatched dedication.
To know Catherine was to know unconditional love, strength, humor, and loyalty. She was truly one of a kind, and the hole left by her passing will be deeply felt by all who were lucky enough to know her.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Catherine’s life will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, followed by burial at 1:00 p.m. at Riverside Memorial Cemetery, Tequesta, Florida. Reception to follow.
Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with those who went before her and that her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched.
