Donald Edwin Phillips

Donald Edwin Phillips, 92, passed from this life and into eternal life with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 15, 2025. Don was born on June 13, 1932 to David and Mary Phillips of Youngstown, Ohio.

Don's parents were originally from Wales and emigrated to Canada in the early 1920s and then to the United States. Don was the youngest of their four children. He graduated from East High School in 1950 and from Youngstown College (now Youngstown State University) in 1956. He went through the ROTC program at Youngstown College, joined the United States Army, and achieved the rank of First Lieutenant.

While serving in the Army at Nike Air Defense Missile Base on Grand Island, New York, Don met his wife, Shirley Ann (Ott) Phillips. They were married at the home of Shirley’s parents on March 8, 1959, and at the time of Shirley’s death on August 16, 2012 had celebrated 53 anniversaries together.

For the majority of his working career, Don was employed by the General Electric Company in engineering, sales, and management. He lived in California from 1959 to 1960, in New York from 1961 to 1970, and in Florida from 1971 onwards. He was a resident of Jupiter, Florida for 53 years, and was a long-time member of Beacon Baptist Church in Jupiter.

Don is survived by 5 children, Rhonda Whiting (William), Richard Phillips (Kimberly), Kim Raine (William), Dona Lowe (Evan), and David Phillips; 14 grandchildren, Jessica Volt, Zachary Whiting, and Miranda Whiting; Amanda Phillips and Andrew Phillips; Wesley Lowe, Gwyneth Farmer (Nicholas), Dylan Lowe, Rhys Lowe (Kendra), Griffin Lowe (Avalon), Bronwyn Lowe, and Owen Lowe; Ross Phillips and Claire Phillips; 4 great-grandchildren, Evelyn Volt, Buchanan Farmer, Everett Farmer, and Emerson Lowe and 1 brother-in-law, Mel Ott (Glenda) from New York.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 10:30 AM, at Beacon Baptist Church, 11616 Indiantown Road, Jupiter, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The King's Academy Scholarship Fund.
