Duchesne Dennis, 75, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026 and went home to be with her Heavenly Father. While her family feels the deep loss of her presence, they find comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain and is whole again.
She was welcomed into Heaven by those who went before her—her mother, Flora Guest; Uncle Billy; Aunt Millie; and three children she never had the opportunity to meet in this life.
Duchesne was born on August 3, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri. Her life was marked by love, dedication, and deep roots in family and community. She shared a remarkable love story with her husband, Charles “Charlie” Dennis, that began when they met in the 3rd grade at Ballast Point Elementary School in Tampa, Florida. They grew up together, graduated from Robinson High School in 1968, and continued their journey side by side at the University of South Florida, where she earned her degree in Education in 1972. They were married on January 14, 1971, and shared 55 years of marriage built on faith, commitment, and enduring love.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother of three, and a “Mom” and Grandma to all in her world. To know Duchesne was to be welcomed into her family. When her son came home with a woman and two small children, she didn’t hesitate—she simply saw another daughter and grandkids to love and spoil. That was her gift: making everyone feel like they belonged.
Professionally, Duchesne worked in education and later in the financial industry. She also dedicated significant time to mentoring and supporting youth through her involvement with the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, alongside her extensive volunteer work with the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of the USA. She gave thousands of hours to camps, crafts, designs, and patches, always striving to provide the best experiences for every young person she encountered.
She also had a passion for creativity, spending time scrapbooking, cross-stitching, and enjoying all forms of arts and crafts. And she always had a camera close by—capturing the moments that mattered most, because to her, every moment with family was worth remembering.
Duchesne is survived by her husband, Charles “Charlie” Dennis; her daughters, Dorin Dennis and McKinlay Dennis; her son, Hunter Dennis and his spouse, Sarah; her grandchildren, Emily Stidham, Chad Shirley, Sariah Dennis, Ziva Dennis and Hunter Dennis Jr. and her great-grandchild, David Stidham.
A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
Duchesne will be remembered for her boundless love, her unwavering support, and her ability to make everyone feel like family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
