Edwin “Ed” Villanueva, 54, passed away on December 20, 2025, in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 17, 1971, in Bridgeton, New Jersey, Ed lived a life filled with curiosity, creativity, and deep love for his family.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Gina San Antonio-Villanueva; his devoted mother, Martha Villanueva; and his brothers Hugo Rodriguez and his wife Nandia Andreou-Rodriguez, James Villanueva and his partner, Patricia Lopez. He is also lovingly remembered as a son-in-law to David Carlson and Jane Webster; a brother-in-law to Rayna Abrams, Marla San Antonio and Amanda Norris; and a cherished uncle to Peter Andreou-Rodriguez, Victoria Andreou-Rodriguez, Ella Abrams, Max Abrams, and Annabelle Schick, to whom he was a proud godfather. He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Villanueva.
From a young age, Ed was an avid fan and collector of Star Wars and G.I. Joe, passions that stayed with him throughout his life and brought him great joy. He especially loved attending comic conventions and sharing his enthusiasm with others. Having spent many years in New York City, Ed developed a deep appreciation for culture, fashion, and literature, and he was an enthusiastic reader with a keen eye for style.
Ed built a career doing work he truly loved, having been employed by Barnes & Noble, the Guggenheim Museum, Brooks Brothers, and most recently Louis Vuitton. His work reflected who he was—thoughtful, cultured, and deeply engaged with the world around him.
Known for being the life of the party, Ed was quick-witted, funny, and intelligent, with a presence that lit up any room. Above all, he treasured traveling and vacationing with his wife and family, creating memories filled with laughter, love, and adventure.
A memorial for Ed will take place during the Sunday Mass on February 15, 2026 at Ss. Nicholas, Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Roseland, New Jersey. Guests are welcome to attend and are kindly asked to arrive by 10:00 a.m.
