Gail Regina Teresa Kernan passed away peacefully in her home in Jupiter, Florida on Friday, September 4th, just shy of her 84th birthday. Gail was born in the Bronx, New York on September 15th, 1936 to Ceceilia and William “Bill” Brassington. She was one of six children: Mary Cronin, Ann Young, Beth Wentzel, Bill Brassington, and Kathy Brassington. Gail graduated from Maria Regina High School in Scarsdale, NY and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Immaculata College in Washington DC. She was married and had 5 children: Jimmy, Brian, Eileen, Bobby and Mary Beth. She later divorced but lived her life in a positive manner, spreading love and happiness to everyone. She worked at Reichhold Chemicals in White Plains, NY as an executive secretary for many years. When she retired, Gail moved to Jupiter FL where she spent the rest of her life. She joined Jupiter First Church where she became in active member and cherished her Thursdays folding bulletins with the “crew”. Gail loved Florida – especially the sunsets.
Gail is survived by her sister, Kathy Brassington, her brother, Bill Brassington, 5 children, 18 nieces and nephews, 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was known to her grandchildren as “GG” or the “Cherry Lady”.
Everyone who knew Gail instantly loved her – she had a great personality, beautiful smile, wonderful sense of humor and so much strength. No matter what life dealt her – she took it with a smile and forged on. Gail was an avid reader, she loved to play cards, cook, entertain and was famous for her “happy hours”. Gail had a real zest for life and celebrated her birthday for a full month every year.
Gail was a true animal lover and always watched nature programs. She had many animals over the years, but her cat, Scotchie was her best friend. We believe Scotchie was by her side when she passed.
Gail’s unconditional love, support, positive attitude, smart wit and wonderful sense of humor will be deeply missed by so many. Rest in peace.
Please leave your special thoughts or memories of Gail on this website.
At this time, the family will be holding a private service but plan to celebrate Gail’s life with a large celebration at a later date.
