Gary, a United States Marine Corps' Sargeant, was proud to have served his country during the Vietnam War. Upon discharge, he was awarded the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry and the Purple Heart.
Gary is survived by his wife of 57 years, Christine (Lehle) Mason who he met at a donut shop in San Diego, California while stationed at Camp Pendleton; daughter, Michele (Mason) Taylor; son, Daniel Mason; four grandchildren, Brett Taylor, Nick Taylor, Lily Mason, and Julia Mason; aunt, Joanne (Santamaria) Ferguson and brother-in-law, Dr. Ludwig Lehle and family.
He is preceded by his parents, Vincent and Virginia Santamaria and a brother, Mark Santamaria.
Gary/Schatz/Grampy was very generous to all his family and friends. He loved animals of all kinds, especially his most precious dogs, Bailey and Diego.
A committal service will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the South Florida National Cemetery.
