Jack Tishler of Stratham, NH & Jupiter, FL passed at age 91 on May 12, 2021. Beloved husband of Ellie for 44 years. Born in Boston, ,son of Esther & Nathan. Jack graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School and attended Suffolk University.
Devoted father to Rhonda (Gary) Maltz; and sons, Gary (and the late Janet), Cliff (Jean), and Gerry (Debbie). Jack adored his grand & great grandchildren, the late Nikki Tishler, Brett Heyman, Lindsey Rudenauer, Brian & James Tishler, Julie O’Donnell and brothers, Blake & Jared Tishler; great-grandies – Rory, Declan and Tyler Jack, Ava, Lexi and Gio, James Jr., and soon-to-arrive Baby Girl O’Donnell. Adored brother of Gail Ross, uncle of Melissa, life-long friend & soulmate Dr. Larry Bennett of Waitsfield, VT, and many dear cousins near and far. His beloved little Maggie sits by the door patiently waiting for her Dad’s return.
He loved sports and was one of Boston’s most loyal fans. Ecstatic when his Red Sox won the 2018 World Series, he also saw many Celtics and Bruins championship years, and cheered the Patriots on from the team’s first season through to the sensational Brady era. Along with beach time and wonderful times in Ogunquit, golf, tennis, x-country skiing, poker games were favorite pastimes. “Lifer volunteer” with the Massachusetts Science & Engineering Fair.
Overwhelmed with thoughts shared by friends and family about Jack, here are a few that touched us deeply: “He loves his family to the moon, a life force, jovial sense of humor; a great team with Ellie; a sage soul; true gentleman; touched so many lives; a patriarch,” and from Lindsey, “my Grampy ‘crushed it’ by becoming ordained at 86 years old to officiate at my wedding.”
