Jon Franklin Tuttle, Esq (July 31, 1940-January 9, 2026) lived a full life filled with purpose, mischief and a deep love for his family and friends. He adored his wife Peggy, his daughters Susan Schmidt (Loren) and Cinda Munroe, his grandsons Alexander (Daphne) and Maxwell (Daisy), his great grandsons Edison, Franklin and Arthur along with many siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jon was born to John Franklin Tuttle and Vivian Louise Coleman in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from Withrow High School in 1958 then graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering from Ohio University in 1964. He then went on to earn his Juris Doctorate at University of Pittsburgh in 1969.
Jon worked at Dorsey & Whitney as an intellectual property attorney from 1969-2003. For as long as we can remember he was a Partner at Dorsey & Whitney. Dorsey took him to numerous geographies including Minnesota, Washington DC, and Colorado. Then, it was his turn to relocate to Florida so his wife Peggy could finish out her career at St. Marks’s Church and School in Palm Beach Gardens Florida.
Jon was generous with his money, his time and his advice (whether solicited or not). He taught evening classes at Mitchel Hamline School of Law in St Paul, Minnesota in addition to his day job. He also seemed to be continually offering pro bono legal work to many.
Encouraging others came naturally to Jon. He had a generous spirit and took a sincere interest in people, always ready to offer guidance, advice, or reassurance—no matter who they were. From close family and friends or to those who simply stopped by to walk Cinda’s dog, he never missed an opportunity to connect and encourage. Helping others feel supported was one of the many ways he showed his kindness.
His sincere love of people, his genuine desire to help anyone and his incredible wisdom will be fondly remembered by many.
His selfless and generous ways impacted countless lives and his deep love to educate anyone he could will leave a profound impact
on many.
Jon loved music; he played the drums and in the early days was in a band. During his college days hustled pool for some additional cash. He loved tinkering with things, especially anything with electricity. He loved to fish and made an annual trip to Rainy Lake with friends for the best fishing ever. Well, not quite as good as Alaska. He also picked up making stained glass in his free time. He was master hoarder of projects he would get to someday, driving Peggy insane.
He enjoyed traveling (as long as he wasn’t in charge of the arrangements) Jon, Peggy and sometimes with Susan and Cinda explored far corners of the Earth, including many domestic locations, Israel, Africa, China, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, most countries in Europe and many trips to the UK, Ireland and Scotland.
Jon was competitive and loved to play cards, especially a good game of 500 with friends. He was a voracious reader of books, newspapers, magazines, legal documents; pretty much anything he could get his hands on, including his grandsons' textbooks.
Jon was a devout Episcopalian from birth and in his retirement donated his time to assist the National Episcopal Church rewrite Title IV, Canon 4 which addresses standards of conduct for bishops, priests and deacons that sets the standards of the ecclesiastical discipline process.
