It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Margaret Neill Barniea on July 19, 2020 at her winter home in Jupiter, FL. Better known as Bunny, she was born on February 26, 1951 to parents William and Miriam Barniea of Long Island NY. She grew up in Bethpage NY where she attended St. Joseph's Academy.
Bunny went to the University of Dayton where she met her close network of college friends who remember her as a true and loyal friend with strong convictions and a dynamic personality. Graduating in 1973, she began her career with American Airlines and spent 35-plus years in leadership roles in both passenger and flight services at JFK and LaGuardia. Bunny stayed in contact with many former work associates and they remember her professionalism, quick wit, and infectious sense of humor.
Bunny was well-travelled and had many friends both here and abroad. She treasured her family. Bunny always spent holidays with them and made sure she attended important life events of her two nephews and niece, and in later years, their children's celebrations as well. They cherish the times spent with their Aunt. Her niece remembers the many girls’ trips and life lessons from “the best Aunt a girl could ever ask for.”
Bunny will be sadly missed by her brother, William Barniea and wife Sandra; nephews, Ryan Barniea and wife Megan and Brandon Barniea and wife Lida; niece, Alexandra Barniea Green and husband Chris Green; grand-nephews, Parker and James and grand-niece, Grace all of Annapolis MD, and a cousin, Ann Marie Solon and husband Dr. Rome Solon of Manhasset NY.
A virtual Celebration of Life will be announced shortly on Bunny’s Facebook page. The family will hold a private Catholic ceremony and internment. For those who wish to make a donation in her name, please consider her favored charity Melanoma Research Alliance at: https://www.charities.org/charities/melanoma-research-alliance.
