Dale Campbell Bussey, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many, passed away on April 23, 2023 after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Despite having a disease that takes so much, she never stopped bringing smiles to her loved ones around her and would deliver one-liners that came out of nowhere up to the end.
Dale was born in Pelham, GA in 1931. She was an accomplished pianist, basketball player, and valedictorian of PHS, Class of ’48. She attended Middle GA College and finished her college education at FSU with a degree in education.
She was married to the one and only love of her life, Bob, for 58 years, who predeceased her in death in 2010.
In 1961, FPL transferred Bob to Belle Glade and Dale often referred to those years as “the happiest of her life,” where they raised their four children and forged friendships that lasted her entire life. Dale taught 2nd Grade until they relocated to Palm Beach Gardens in 1973. In 1983, she began a new career as a realtor and soon after she and her friend opened Trio Properties on Singer Island, which is still in operation today.
Dale was the consummate southern lady and giver in all aspects of her life. She had an unwavering faith and was a friend to everyone she met. She was always aware of the many blessings in her life and she quietly and continually helped others who were not as fortunate. She devoted much of her time to P.E.O. International, an organization dedicated to the advancement of women and her church.
Of all her accomplishments, she would say her family was her greatest. Known for hosting family gatherings at the drop of a hat for any reason or no reason at all, everyone knew that family was the most important thing to her. But her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the ones who brought her the most joy in her life and she gave them all the gift of her time and love. She spent years making them their favorite meals, playing cards with them, attending their ballet and sports activities, and hosting more sleepovers than anyone could count.
In addition to Bob, Dale was also predeceased by her grandson, Dustin Bussey, who she is now reunited with in Heaven.
She is survived by her brother, Buddy Campbell, 4 children, Weyman, Beth, Ben (Jacki), and Bill (Margarita). 7 Grandchildren, Laelia Banks, Jay Price, Robert, Nikolas, Peyton, Parker, and Alec, 6 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Her service will be at 11:00 AM on July 8th at First United Methodist Church of The Palm Beaches.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor can be made to Trustbridge Hospice Care https://trustbridge.com/foundation/ways-to-give/ or CROS Ministries https://www.crosministries.org/. The family thanks Trustbridge and their Team for all their support throughout this long journey.
