Mary Ellen Beane

She married her high school sweetheart, Dave, on June 9, 1960. The newlyweds came to Florida that year, when her husband accepted a job offer from Pratt & Whitney.

Settling in North Palm Beach, Mary Ellen was a stay at home mom, raising her children, daughter Miriam and son Jeffrey. After the children were grown, and a move to Jupiter in 1980, she went to work as a secretary at Pratt & Whitney, which she greatly enjoyed, until her retirement in 1999. In retirement, she traveled with her husband on many enjoyable trips throughout the US, Canada and Europe. The past 11 years she enjoyed spending her winters in Jupiter, and summers at their vacation home in their home town, DuBois. There she cultivated an active social life, re-establishing many friendships that began back in her school days, when she was growing up.

Mary Ellen enjoyed gardening, crafts, and was an avid reader. She enthusiastically joined in on the family hobby of off road motorcycling, accumulating many friendships and happy memories over the years. She loved to crochet Afghans, creating many beautiful works of art, which she gave to her family and friends. She was devoted to her family, of whom she was very proud. Mary Ellen was a wonderful woman, mother, friend, and beloved companion to her husband for 58 years.

Mary Ellen is survived by her husband, David Beane; daughter, Miriam (Rick) Collette; son, Jeffrey Beane; grandson, David (Brittney) Wise; granddaughter, Erin (Nate) Wise and great granddaughter, Violet, who Mary Ellen adored; brother, John Thomas in Port Orange FL; two sisters, Genevieve Mabie and Betty Burkett in Pennsylvania and numerous nieces and nephews.

The youngest of six children, she was pre-deceased by her parents, John and Genevieve Thoma;, a sister, Dorothy Lumley and a brother, Leroy Thomas.
