

She is survived by her brother, Michael (Susan) Sallas; nephews, Matthew (Nicole Walen) Sallas and Adam (Jennifer) Sallas; great-nephew, Caden Sallas and great-niece, Kalia Sallas.
She was predeceased by her husband, Franz Huber (2014) and survived by his family in Belgium; niece, Barbara Huber; great-niece; Margot Van Bost; nephew, Alexander (Gezabel) Huber, great-nieces, Lucia Huber and Carla Huber. As well as members of her extended family in Chicago and countless friends and colleagues throughout the world.
While in high school, Mary-Jeane earned her license as a cosmetologist which helped her work her way through college to become an elementary school teacher. In 1973 she accepted the position of classroom teacher for the U.S. Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DODDS) and was assigned to Heidelberg, Germany where she taught until her retirement in 2014. In 1995, and after earning her Master of Education Degree from Boston College, Mary-Jeane was honored as DODDS Europe, Teacher of-the-Year. She met Franz in Heidelberg, was married in 1979 and spent 35 years traveling around the world, seeing all 7 Wonders of the World, indulging in 5-Star Restaurants, learning from winemakers and sommelier’s on 5 continents as well engaging in unique excursions such as forging through the jungles of Borneo to live among headhunters, climbing to the peaks of Manchu Pichu to visit with members of the Quechua population of Peru, spending time in aboriginal villages in Australia, crossing Iceland in a military jeep and exploring the pyramids on camelback.
In 2017 Mary-Jeane repatriated to the U.S. and settled in South Florida to be near her immediate family where she immediately became engaged with friends in her Singer Island Condo and became a member of St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church in West Palm Beach where she became an active member of The Philoptochos and Daughters of Penelope.
Visitation and Services for Mary-Jeane Huber will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025 at St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 110 Southern Blvd., West Palm Beach, FL 33405. Visitation: 10:00am followed by services at 11:00am, interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 6411 Parker Avenue, West Palm Beach. Luncheon immediately following at St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church Hellenic Cultural Center. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Daughters of Penelope Leda 59 Scholarship Fund.
