

Micki Lee Rivera, age 59, passed away at home on Dec. 11, 2017 in Jupiter. She was born on Jan. 17, 1958, in Camden, New Jersey to George and Vera (Goetschius) Rotenbury and was one of six children. Micki graduated from Shawnee High School and spent decades working as a human resource specialist for the federal government. She was married to Jose D. Rivera on July 18, 1982; he preceded her in death in 2009.
She was a devoted wife, mother, Gram and friend to many. She was known for her joy for life, generosity and compassion for others. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening, swimming and exploring Florida; searching for hidden treasures at antique and thrift stores. She also served in the children’s ministry at her church.
She is survived by her daughters, Janina (Charles) Baxter and Cheniqua (Steve) Haman; four grandchildren, Charles J. Baxter and Sanaa, Sasha and Samone Haman; five brothers and sisters; many nieces and nephews and numerous friends who were like family to her.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018, at 11:00 am at Christ Fellowship in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. A second service will be scheduled in March in Calvert County, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the ALS Association, Paralyzed Veterans of America or the Place of Hope children’s organization in Palm Beach Gardens.
