Robert “Bob” A. Nappi, age 82, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather went peacefully to join our Lord on Friday, February 2nd. Robert was born on January 23rd, 1943, in Lynn, Massachusetts to the late Ingrid (Wallin) and Antonio Nappi Sr. He graduated from Essex Agricultural and Technical Institute in Massachusetts. While attending, he began working on Vermont farms during his summer vacations. He went on to the University of Vermont where he received his bachelor's degree and later his master’s degree. He also attended St. Michael’s College for advanced studies. Robert served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army Signal Corp from 1968-71 and was honorably discharged. He returned to Vermont where he met his wife Marcia (Goetze), and they married on August 30, 1973. They were happily married for 47 years.
Robert had many different careers in his lifetime. For a time, he worked at HP Hood in Burlington, Vermont. He met Marcia at the Charlotte Congregational Church where he played the organ during services. When they were married, they settled in Charlotte and began raising miniature donkeys. He continued to work on his farm, while he worked, for many years, as a middle school science teacher at Charlotte Central School until his retirement in the mid-90s. He and Marcia then settled in Shelburne. They would then begin to spend winters in Daufuskie Island, SC, and finally settle in Jupiter, FL. Never fully retiring, he was a property manager, entrepreneur, philanthropist, world traveler, and avid golfer. He mentored many friends in their business ventures. He supported his wife in the founding of the MGN Family Foundation. In 2017, Robert and Marcia were blessed to have the opportunity to purchase their beloved Kwiniaska Golf Course in Shelburne. Kwiniaska, which meant so much to him, had once been the farmland where he worked in his youth.
Robert was predeceased by his loving wife, Marcia, in 2021, and his brother, Antonio “Tony” Nappi Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Donna Hanlon; his son, Richard Hatch and his wife Pam; his brother David Nappi and his wife Anne; grandchildren, Misty Leonard and her husband Jeremy; Carrie Lagrow and her husband Matthew; Jessica McKinney and her husband Robert; Kurt Hatch; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Katherine Leonard; Noah Dragoon; Macy and Clare Lagrow; Caleb, Chelsea and Preston McKinney; and Kurt, Titus, Kylee and Camryn Hatch; and many nieces and nephews.
A private family gathering will be held in Florida. A memorial service will take place at a later date in Vermont. Donations in his memory can be made to MGN Family Foundation to continue his legacy of giving. Checks can be made payable to MGN Family Foundation, c/o UBS, 3801 PGA Boulevard, Suite 1000, Palm Beach, Florida, 33410.
