I am deeply saddened to learn of your passing. The news came as a shock, and my heart sank when I found your obituary online. Memories of our time together in school flooded my mind, especially the moments when we talked about the military, conversations that eventually inspired me to join as well. The laughter we shared and the bond we formed are cherished memories that I will hold close to my heart. You will be greatly missed, and my heartfelt condolences go out to your family during this difficult time.

Ok I didn’t think to do this but I have to. I literally text you last year on ig and on the phone to see how you were doing, I had you in my spirits and that was weird to me, I would text you to come out with me and the girls to hangout and you always showed up dressed to impress! You even called me and said “girl make sure you show out” I brought you up to my sister saying I haven’t heard from my friend in quite sometime and I usually always hear SOMETHING or see pictures. I literally said I hope nothing happened. I did a deep dive and found out you were gone. I Truly miss you and your energy, you were my girl in Vietnam and saved my butt! This is crazy and I wish I could hug you and talk to you again about how I feel hearing you say no girl that’s a red flag! You are missed and never forgotten.

It is with the most sadness in my heart that this is something i am having to write to scarlet and the family and friends of scarlet.. i do not even know where to begin. I met scarlet at our apartment gym in jacksonville, i thought she was so pretty and fit and i went up to her and was like can you show me that workout? She laughed and we exchanged numbers and instagrams, looking back on our messages, the very next day she said i'm having a couple girls over and some drinks at my house if you wanna come over! I did. We found out she lived right below me and one apartment over.  That was the type of person Scarlet was, she made you feel welcomed, she made you feel at peace and at home. We developed such an amazing friendship for those 7 or 8 months before she left for Italy. We did everything together. We weren't just neighbors anymore, she became another sister to me. She was spiritual and in touch with herself so much, that people search a whole lifetime to become that in tune with themselves.. but Scarlet was. My dad had passed away and even though, she never met him, she would talk about him and comfort me with saying how much she feels he's around me. Though I moved away and she went off to Italy.. we stayed in touch and we just spoke for her birthday and in early October. She reached out and I thought, oh my, she still keeps up with me after all of this time. Scarlet was a beautiful person inside and out.. one of a kind.. the memories, videos and pictures i have with her, will always be. I am praying so hard for her family, her parents and siblings, they meant the world to her.. this world has lost the brightest light and it is a great loss. i love you scar

I am so sorry for your loss. No words could explain how amazing she was. I worked with her at FRC and she was just a ray of light and laughter. I will carry her memory with me for the rest of my life. 

This picture pretty much sums up the relationship I had with Scarlet. She was always a joy to be around and could put a smile on your face no matter the situation. While we served together, Scarlet was the little sister that I never had. I truly cherish the relationship I had with her and am blessed to have been able to call someone like Scarlet a great friend. I’ll always think of you and the memories that we have together.❤️

Your going away get together before you left for Italy. I was new to the command and Florida in general and you invited me out with your friends. I appreciate you getting me out of my shell and being so kind and welcoming to me! Thank you Maldo I will never forget!!


I always felt cared for and loved when in Maldo’s presence. She went above and beyond to be good to people and was such a kind and genuine person. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to meet her and feel blessed to have had her as a friend.  

I’m so grateful for all the years you and I have been friends. I will miss seeing and talking to you every single day. One of the fiercest, strongest, kindest, woman to exist! I will cherish every memory we have been blessed to have together. You deserved the world ❤️

Condolences to Maldonado-Martinez Family, I knew Scarlett from HSC-4. Scarlett is friendly and hard working young lady. Being in the Line division, she didn't complain about getting dirty and working long hours. She is smart, dependable, driven and funny. Rest in paradise sis, you'll be missed but never forgotten.

To my good friend Scarlet.  We both served in California on several deployments with the USS Carl Vinson from 2016-2018.  Scarlet was a great friend and a good listener.  No matter what the circumstances were she was always there for me.   We had a Hispanic crew on the ship and would get together every week to dance Salsa, Bachata and merengue. All of us had great time  in Guam, Vietnam, Philippines, and Singapore.  She was always full of life and it breaks my heart that she is gone.  To her family and Friends I am sorry for your loss.  Scarlet will always be present in my heart and may she rest in piece.

She made 12 hour work days more enjoyable with her goofiness, her laugh, she was always dancing ,and she would just brighten up the room wherever she walked in. Rest in peace beautiful Scarlet or as I knew you "Maldo". 

Big and bold personality. I'll never forget her. Just pure unmatched energy. She loved life and had fun with it. Rest easy.

Scarlet was always weekend ready, the most fashionable person I’ll ever meet. She was always inspiring me to love myself and to love others around me, she made it look so easy ❤️

I'm gonna miss you my free spirited, spunky, funny friend! You always made me smile and always had such great positive vibes!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rest In Peace beautiful soul. 

Maldo, was by far one of the most charismatic humans I have ever met. Sweet, caring, funny, all things that she expressed everyday and in every conversation. We have not been in touch lately, but I will never forget you.

My condolences to the family and loved ones. On the USS Carl Vinson I attended "Latin night" for the first time. I was so nervous and shy. Scarlet was dancing next to me. She was as light as air and had the most genuine smile on her face. She was in her element.  I did not feel judgment from her but encouragement.  I have never even met her before this. That was how much of a butterfly she was. I continued to see her everywhere else after that. Over time I started realizing she was friends with multiple groups of friends that I had. She was definitely a woman who lit up the room when she walked in. May she continue to dance, sing and laugh in heaven. 

all we ever did was dance and laugh together. laugh was very contagious 🫶🏾🥺

I met Scarlet while deployed in the Navy. Before we spoke I was drawn to her beauty and how friendly she was, and once we did talk she would always say hi and smile. She introduced herself as Scarlet which is different for people who are in the service but she was always special. I shared a few special memories with her and I learned that she was a humble, strong, & self aware being. We had several things in common and she had exceptional dancing skills that I would love to learned from her. Such an amazing woman. I would have loved to share more memories with her but like most military friendships, they come to ends abruptly due to moving commands or moving states. She’s someone who would always stand out in a crowd. It’s crazy to be writing this and I’m sorry for the loss of such a beautiful soul. Sending my deepest condolences to her family and friends. 

I am sending my deepest condolences to all the family, friends, and colleagues of Scarlet. My dearest friend I cannot believe you’re gone. I pray that justice will be served in the crime committed against you. I pray that your love and spirit shines bright in all of your loved ones. I’m sorry for all the pain you suffered behind closed doors. I’m sorry that none of us could protect you. We all loved you more then you will ever be able to fathom. Rest in power Scarlet I will cherish all of our laughs and memories forever. I am praying for strength for the Maldonado Marinez family. Scarlet is watching over all of us from heaven now.
