

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Doris Mae Poundstone and daughter Kathy Poundstone.
Bill is survived by his wife Martha (Muff) Poundstone; sons William N. Poundstone Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, and Scott L. Poundstone of Jupiter, FL; grandchildren Emily Alves (Dan), Alyssa Oliver (Matthew), and Weston Poundstone (Nicole), all of Jupiter, FL; brother Jack Poundstone (Vera) of Cookeville, TN; and stepdaughter Beth Mathias (Chris) and their children Matthew and Erin.
Bill was born in Morgantown, WV. He served as a technical sergeant in WWII and graduated from West Virginia University. He worked for Consol Energy for over 33 years.
Bill was given an honorary degree from WVU, Doctor of Science, and he also received a recognition in the West Virginia Coal Hall of Fame.
He was involved with the National Academy of Engineering, Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (50 years), National Coal Association, Old Timers Club, King Coal Association, and Lost Tree Foundation.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, with a memorial service following at 5:00pm, at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center.
