
Arnold V. Herrick of Makawao passed away on December 14, 2016 at Maui Memorial Medical Center. For 49 days he fought to survive after an auto accident. Arnold was born on March 12, 1934 in Olympia, Washington. Visitation will be held from 830-930am on Friday January 13, 2017. At St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1294 Makawao Ave. in Makawao. The funeral mass begins at 9:30am. The internment will follow after mass at Maui Veterans’ cemetery on Baldwin Ave. in Makawao at 11am. Luncheon to follow at St. Joseph Church Gymnasium adjacent to the church. Arnold served in the United States Navy from 1951 – 1970. As a Seabee he served in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts and became a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He also trained recruits at the U.S. Naval Station in San Diego, California. Arnold will receive full military honors at his internment at Maui Veterans’ Cemetery. After retirement he worked at Sierra Electric in California. He loved Maui and moved here in 1989. He worked at Haleakala Waldorf School and Paradise Flower Farms in Kula. He liked to garden and read and enjoyed woodcraft making from custom cuckoo clocks, to ukuleles, small furniture and restoring clocks. Arnold is survived by his wife, Anne Kiyoko Herrick, son, A. Vince Yukio (Gwen); daughters, Connie Lynn and Jamee Sue; Grandchildren: Gloria, Alex, Nicholas, Annalise, & Ronan. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the National Kidney Foundation www.kidney.org
