Colleen was a graduate of the University of Southern California who taught high school in San Bernardino County before moving to Maui. Here on Maui she served as Maui county director of Girl Scouts for 10 years. She then re-located to California to serve for two years as training director for adult Girl Scouts in San Bernardino and Riverside counties. Upon return to Maui, she was employed 10 years as manager for 13 jewelry stores in the Wailea and Lahaina area. She retired from the State of Hawaii Department of Human Services.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Ballard Family Mortuary, Kahului, service will begin at 9:30 a.m.; burial to follow at Maui Veteran’s Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
Colleen is survived by her son, Greg Starmer; daughter, Alison (Nicholas) Hethcote; brother, Floyd Bradley Venable; sisters, Diane Major, and Gail Venable Jones; 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
