Helen Tavares Estrella, 103, of Haiku, Maui, passed away on January 9, 2026 in Kahului. She was born on June 12, 1922.
She is survived by her son, Anthony Estrella (Ann); daughter, Linda Estrella; brother, Edward (Annette) Tavares; and numerous nieces & nephews. Helen was predeceased by her husband of 75 years, Alvin Estrella; and parents, Antone & Emily Moniz Tavares.
Helen will be remembered for her amazing breads, jams, pickles and cookies that she made to fundraise for St. Rita Church; her beautiful anthuriums and orchids; and her commitment to doing the best for her family.
Her family would like to express their gratitude for all the care and caring Helen received at Hale Makua Kahului’s North Unit, Restorative Program, Day Health, Activities and Transportation. Special thanks to Hospice Maui for their support and compassion.
Services will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 at St. Rita’s Church, 655 Haiku Road, with visitation to start at 9am; mass will follow at 11am. Burial will be held at a later date.
