Surviving him are his sister, Abigail Luana Pali of Kahului, and his brother, Richard (Bernie) Bayong of Kula, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert’s culinary career spanned several decades, during which he served as a chef at both the Maui Beach Hotel and the Maui Palms Hotel. He was also a dedicated Kumu hula instructor for Ali’i ‘o kalani and a judge for the Merrie Monarch for five years.
In his spare time, Robert enjoyed teaching senior citizens at Alu Like passing on his knowledge of hula and Hawaiian music.
Robert’s contributions to the community will be profoundly missed. His legacy as a gifted chef and dedicated Kumu Hula will continue to inspire generations.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Ballard Family Mortuary in Kahului, from 9:00am to 10:30am; with service to start at 10:30am.
