It is with deep sadness that we share that Antonio Martins Guerreiro passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025. He was 97 1/2 years old.
Born on April 15, 1928, in Algarve Portugal, Antonio met his life partner, Romana, in the Algarve in 1949.
In 1955 Antonio fulfilled a long time dream of immigrating to Canada. He landed in Montreal, but soon discovered that opportunities were better out west, so he hopped on a train and made his way to British Columbia. He worked hard at various jobs before bringing his wife and eldest daughter to Canada a few years later. As his family grew, they lived in Kamloops and the Okanogan, before settling in 100 Mile House. In 1995 Antonio and Romana retired in Kamloops.
Antonio’s hobbies included gardening and wine making. He also enjoyed the occasional adventure (or misadventure) while fishing and hunting, which he eventually traded for RVing.
In fact, Antonio was a great adventurer and loved to tell stories about his adventures. With a smile and a twinkle in his eyes, he could quickly capture the attention of old and new friends.
After a fall in May 2025, the last six months were more of a challenge for Antonio. Eventually, with a ginger ale for the road, his heart gave out and off he went on his final adventure.
Antonio is predeceased by Romana, his wife of 70 years and his son. He leaves behind his daughters, grandchildren, a great granddaughter, and their families as well as many other relatives and friends.
He will be missed and remain dear in our hearts.
Rest in peace.
