

Our hearts go out to Papa John, Grandma Julie, Danny, Robin and Jenette as well as to all Cayla's family members and friends.

It is difficult to say goodbye to anyone but especially to one so young, beautiful,  full of life and close to so many hearts.

Cayla, such a pretty girl with a beautiful smile and as so many have indicated -a passion for people and living life to the fullest.

Great Grandma Hicks had the privilege of visiting and watching Cayla grow during her numerous trips to Kenora.  The rest of us enjoyed the many photos sent to us regularly by Papa John and Grandma Julie.

A time we will always treasure is when we were together and surprised Great Grandma for her 75th birthday.  An awesome memory.

We are so proud of the strength Cayla displayed as she battled for recovery!
May her life be an example to us all as to "how important it is for us to chose life wisely"!

You  were always smiling no matter what we were doing, Always pushing through trying to be the best you you could be, and when times got hard it pushed you even more. Memories of when we were younger playing at your house with you and Jennete will always stick with me and watching you with the biggest smile at our beach parties. You were always the life of the party every time I saw you, I know you are up there kicking it with that same
Smile and same wild energy. Love you big cuz❤️

Cayla was introduced to me by our loved and late friend, Logan. The first few times I spent with cayla and logan I knew we'd be friends for a long time. They were always up for an adventure, and cayla always led the way. Cayla had a fire in her soul that nobody could tame. Although she cared for her family and friends so so much, she always had a desire to keep chasing the next adventure and the next exciting thing. She wanted to live her life to the absolute fullest, and nobody was gonna stop her. And she did. I could sit here for hours and write a book on all the fun times we've had, but ill just say this. In her last few months on this earth she spent some time with us in Kenora. She wanted to make amends with everyone shes ever upset, even if it was someone she hadn't talked to for 10 years. She was meant to do this. She knew she had to. She had a bucket list she was also checking off... which led jenette, stews, cayla and myself to jump 10,000 ft from a plane. I'd never do that without her energy and push to live life wildly. We carried on that evening at a karaoke bar singing the joker, and making a fool of ourselves on stage. But I wouldn't want to do that with anyone else. I'll remember all the good..all the wild..all the fun. And ill remember that beautiful smile forever. I thank her for all the things she's taught me. Take care of our friends up there. We all know caylas not resting...shes on another adventure somewhere. 

Cayla was such a caring,loving and all around pleasant girl to talk to.She showed such emotion in everything she said and that smile of hers stretched for miles.She will truly be missed by so many people.I won't forget the last time I had a chat with her and she was telling me how well she was doing and everything she told me was with that beautiful smile of hers,some tears were shed and I gave her a hug and said cayla you can do this as you are a strong girl,keep doing what you are doing,you got this.She smiled at me with tears in her eyes and said thank you,thank you so much.Big hugs go out to the whole family in these trying times.
