It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charlie Bubar, who unexpectedly left us on September 21, 2025. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Susan, son Jeffery (Heather) and grandson, Logan. He was predeceased by his son Kevin in 1996.
Charlie was born in Enderby, BC, and spent his childhood at his family’s’ resort at Mara Lake with his parents Charles & Ethel, and his 3 siblings Dallas, Alan & Angus. His love of hockey started early, playing for the Grinrod Elks as a teenager.
He met Sue in Salmon Arm in 1970, and they were married in Kamloops on January 30, 1971. They started their married life in Salmon Arm and then moved to Kamloops where Charlie worked for Jameson Auction House – we think this is where he picked up his love for auctions and garage sales. Most Sundays he could be found prowling the local garage sales, looking for axes and tools.
Charlie became a Special Constable with the RCMP in 1975, and he and Sue relocated to Surrey. He served in Surrey as a Regular Member and when he was promoted to Corporal he worked in the Auto Theft Division in downtown Vancouver for the rest of his career, retiring in 2003.
It was during these years in Surrey that he and Susan welcomed Kevin (in 1976) and Jeff (in 1978). Charlie had a love of hockey and baseball and spent time helping his boys with their various sports. He was avid Canuck and Blue Jays fans.
After his retirement, Charlie & Sue moved back to Kamloops and built their beautiful home at Rivershore, where Charlie was a member of the Rivershore Golf Club as well as a volunteer for the Rivershore Fire Department.
A private family gathering will take place at a later date. We would like to thank the RCMP and First Responders for their care. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Charlie’s memory to the Rivershore Volunteer Fire Department, 330 Rivershore Drive, Kamloops, BC, V2H 1T2.
