

Claira Mary Young passed away peacefully on the morning of August 1, 2026, at Ridgeview Lodge in Kamloops, BC.
Claira was born on May 26, 1937, in Ottawa, Ontario, to Bertha Deslauriers, who was also born in Ottawa, and Paul LeDelpha, who was born in Sicily. Claira was a dear sister to Mary Elizabeth Chorney and her two half-brothers, Rudi LeDelpha and Vince LeDelpha.
Claira is survived by her sons, Paul Ward and David Ward; her daughter, Jacqueline DeBord; her stepdaughters, Georgia Auxi and Loretta Seggie; and her stepsons, Jim Jr. Young and Tim Young. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Claira was predeceased by her son, Gary Ward; her adopted son, Ian Young; and her husband, James Henry Young.
Claira will be fondly remembered for her nursing and home support work in the communities of Hamilton, Ontario; Prince George, BC; and Vernon, BC. She also deeply valued her church community. Claira loved going on outings with her children and grandchildren, attending musicals, and working in the garden - her flower boxes were always outstanding! She was also the proud winner of many bingo games during her time at the Bedford assisted living community.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 22, at 1:00 p.m. at Schoening Funeral Service, located at 513 Seymour Street in Kamloops.
