Karen and Dawn and families.  My heart was sadden to hear you loss of you mom and our awesome Auntie Darlene.  My thoughts are with you.  Thinking of you BOTH at this time and days and months that pass.  The pictures are awesome.  Thanks for putting them up so I could see.  They made me smile with tears! I was very sad to hear about Darlene's passing. I saw Darlene that last day she was here and sure didn't think she would have gone so quickly. A couple of days earlier Chico had teased me about having a licence for driving the "Zamboni" at work. I will miss Darlene. The world will not be the same without her in it. Linda Creaser

MOM,

March 10, 1970.  You gave birth to me and watched me take my first breath.  You held me and kissed me and loved me. 

December 30, 2013.  Holding your hand and kissing you and loving you. I watched you take your last breath.

That was the hardest day of my life, watching you and knowing you were leaving us.  

Karen, Keith, and I sat with you in those final hours reminiscing of the years gone by.  What a joy and blessing it was for us to be there with you and remembering the times we shared.

Your diagnosis was a hard one for us all to deal with, but with that it gave us time to be with you this past month and share some special times.  I love the fact that I could come and lie on the bed with you at home and just be with you while you rested and we just loved each other and you patted my hair and I held your hand.  It reminds me of when I was a kid and you would come into my room to wake me up for school, you said “ wakey wakey Dawn, time to get up, wakey, Wakey”  as you petted my hair.  I would get up and drag myself to the kitchen where I would sit on your lap and hug you and sleep some more while you played Yahtzee and drank your coffee.  I swore I would not say “wakey wakey” to Hunter but guess what Mom, I do. When Hunter has a hard time getting up I go to him and say “wakey wakey Hunter time to get up Wakey wakey and pet his hair.  

In the hospital you told me I was bossy and how could you raise such a bossy child.  Everyone you talked to  that day, Lindsay, Terri and Loveday , Aunty Alice, and Uncle Marlin you said to them.  How could you let me  raise such a bossy daughter.   All of them said that I was just like you.  We all had a great laugh over that one.  Like Mother Like Daughter.  I was bossy because  I love you and I wanted you to eat and keep your oxygen on.  

The night I spent all night with you in the hospital, you called me Hobbs, I am not sure where that came from but you looked at me and said Hobbs, 
I don’t know why I named you that.  Then you told me to run away and not come back.  

I remember the day I did run away.  I made it to the Goat house that was in the front yard by the driveway.  I stayed in there until  Dad found me a little bit later.  Mom, I could never run away from you.  

Looking through your pictures we found a picture of us at Yellowstone National Park, I said to Karen, I remember I lost my hat in the hot pools and it shrunk and I couldn't’t wear it anymore.  Karen said that was the trip we almost lost me.  She told me we were in our tent trailer and sometime during the night I slipped through the opening of the flap and the trailer and I hung there by my one foot crying until you and Dad found me.  

On another camping trip, I was told I went to bed chewing gum and woke up with it all stuck in my hair.  Yep all the blond curls had to be cut off.  

The farm: Living on the farm was a wonderful way to have grown up.  Among the animals, The goats, horses, cows, chickens, geese, ducks, pigs, pigeons, bunnies, dogs and cats.  I was thankful that you were a stay at home mom so we could have all these things.  

Mom was one of the Leaders in the 4H Goat Club and we went to 4 shows a year with the goats.  Mom, Dad and I would camp out at the shows where I would spend the days in the goat pens and showing them.  Of course the gatherings were always so much fun with you. 

In the winter we would snowmobile to The Kibbe’s for Boxing day celebrations.  Dad had made a sled that he attached to the snowmobile, He and mom would ride the snowmobile and Karen and I in the sled with the food all around us and off we would go.  

In the summer while we played in the pool, you would stand and watch us play while watering your beloved flowers that surrounded the pool.  The music would be playing,  usually the good ole rock and roll , especially Elvis and we would be singing and laughing and splashing.

Weddings: Mom, you got known for Dancing on the tables.  You sure knew how to bust a move.  You were the life of the parties.

Birthday Parties: Oh the birthday parties we would have.  You would make our cakes and they were of great creations.  We would invite everyone from our class and would have a blast, the games you came up with were so much fun, I especially  remember the musical chairs, and pin the tail on the donkey.  

Oh and don’t forget the Dandelion wine, Karen and I would sit in the field and pick dandelions so you and Dad could make wine.  I remember the time that the McKenzie’s were over and Michelle and I got into the wine.  We were drinking out of mom’s crystal glasses in the basement.  The crystal glass fell out and hit the cement floor, thankfully it didn't’t break.   Oh, but when mom found out what we were doing.  Man did we ever get it.  Our punishment, was the dandelion wine hangover,  NOT PLEASANT.  Must say I never drank the wine again.



Mom, You had been retired for about a year and we were starting to spend more time together.  It was great that you were able to be here last June/July to see Hunter and Emily in there dances.  Hunter with his Hip Hop and Emily with Ballet.  What a special night that was, I know the kids really enjoyed having you there to see them.  As so did we.

I am so glad that you and I went around to see some family as well last July.  You hate visiting but there I am, the bossy one, and said to you.  “Mom you are here lets go and visit”.  We had a great time, we saw Aunty Rose and Shannon, Uncle Joe and Aunty Edna.  We went to Aunty Cheryl and Uncle Hughie’s and looked at the pictures of your childhood and had some great memories.  We stopped in to see Dale and Margaret.  Then we drove by Nature’s fare and I said “Oh, Lisa your cousin works here, lets go say Hi”, so we stop and I am sure mom was thinking, Oh not again.  
(Lisa said to me the other day that she was so glad to have had those few moments with you.)  I am glad we stopped.  Everyone was so happy to see you.  

The day Hunter and I drove you home we stopped in to see Pat and Sandra.  Then we stopped to see Aunty Mary and Uncle Stan.  Mom, I am so glad I was Bossy and you got to see them all.  
  
I miss you terribly and Love you so Much.   I will see you again when it is my time to meet our Father.  We will rejoice.

To Karen, Dawn & families, I was saddened to hear of your moms passing! I have wonderful memories of our time in Mica Creek. Your mom had a great sense of humor and was always fun to be around. Our hearts go out you and may your memories get you through this tough time.

Darlene - this was supposed to be our time - retirement - we often discussedd this but  you were looking forward to it so much  and for so long.  My heart goes out to Chico and to her daughters and families.  You were a good lady and I will miss bumping into you and catching up!
