The Cole family is saddened to announce that Douglas Anthony Cole, cherished father, son, brother, and friend of many, passed away at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home in Kamloops on June 1, 2026, at the age of 70, surrounded by his family.
Doug is survived by his children, Dana (Ron), Darren (Nina), Jessica, and River (Ruben); his grandchildren, Jenna, Ryleigh, and Tristan; and his siblings, Gord (Gail), Eugene (Renita), Leona (Dale), Linda, Diane (Brian), and Frankie; along with his many nieces and nephews, or as he would say, “his littles.”
He was predeceased by his brother and best friend, Dominic (Sheila); sister, Denise; and parents, Veronica and Francis.
Doug grew up in Colliers, Newfoundland, where he and his siblings and friends engaged in countless shenanigans that delighted (and often dismayed) the residents of Colliers. He shared these stories often with great humour and fondness. He spent time all over Canada, but most memorably, he loved living in Smithers, BC, and Dawson City, Yukon.
Doug could work on any engine, design and build houses, and drive whatever vehicle you put him in. In his later years, he was happiest in a logging truck with his brother, Dom, or riding his Harley. But of all his accomplishments, he was most proud of his children. The generosity he extended to everyone in life was never more apparent than with his kids. He will be dearly missed by them, and by all who experienced his compassion, inexhaustible wit, and love.
Doug was endlessly grateful for the kindness and patience he received on his end-of-life journey. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Royal Inland Hospital, the Kamloops Cancer Clinic, and Kamloops Hospice Association. We would especially like to thank Dr. Paul Farrell, his palliative care physician.
We would like to share Doug’s last sentiment to his children: “From a Harley to a hospice bed. It’s a short ride... Don’t waste it!"
