Our dad passed away on August 25, 2025 at the age of 98 in Kamloops Senior Village surrounded by family.
He was born on October 17, 1926, to Alfred and Florance Shaw. He grew up as an only child on a farm in Matsqui, BC, and as he grew up, he cleared the land to plant strawberries. While on the farm I Matsqui. He met mom when she started working there picking strawberries. They married in 1949. Herb, Daphne, and Russ were born while they lived in Matsqui. In 1958 they sold the farm and moved to New Westminster where Len was born.
For the next 15 years, dad worked as a carpenter for Manson Bros. Then he started his own construction company doing small renovations and additions. After a while he was building senior citizen apartments, schools, and office buildings in several locations across BC. In 1981 he moved to Kamloops and built several office buildings and schools in the surrounding area, including two warehouses for lease. He never stopped building or advising his sons on construction.
