Gordon grew up in Vancouver and passed away quietly and peacefully in Royal Inland Hospital with his wife of 63 years by his side.
Gordon is survived by his wife Lue, his two sons James (Mara) and Robert (Janice), and his grandson Ashley Hiltz. He is predeceased by his daughter Patti, brother Bill and his mom and dad, Doris & Bill.
Gordon and his family moved to Barnhartvale and enjoyed being in the country, fresh air, and his back yard. He coached his youngest son Rob’s soccer team and enjoyed every moment of that challenge. He fondly remembers his boys on the “Whiskey Jacks”. He enjoyed watching his eldest son James play soccer and later, in the backyard, shared with him some tips. He loved his times at the Eagle Point Golf Club with his son Rob and his best friend Noel Cumming for a friendly round of golf.
Gordon worked for BC Tel (Telus) for almost 40 years and on his retirement, he completely renovated our home, inside and out, adding a sunroom for Lue’s plants, hot tub and a deck to have afternoon glass of wine and to enjoy the view. Our travels took us to many wonderful places, Yukon, Alaska, Alberta, and many other wonderful places in our beloved 5th wheel. Hawaii was another bucket list destination. Our trip to New Zealand was a trip of a lifetime and one that was so memorable. Our most favorite adventure was kayaking in the Broken Group, Belize, and the Gulf Islands enjoying the quiet, fresh air and mostly the water. He also enjoyed wandering in the hills above Barnhartvale where he met many kindred spirits on their morning hikes.
I would like to thank the paramedics and Dallas Fire Department for their quick response for Gordon, the attentive and kind nurses and doctors of Gagliardi Tower 7th floor and our wonderful neighbours Alan and Ed for offering help whenever is needed.
There is no funeral at his request, later a small family and friends get together to celebrate his life well lived.
Schoening Services oversees arrangements and no flowers please by request. Donations may be made to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation Cardiac Care, Heart and Stroke Foundation and Kamloops Hospice.
