Our cherished mom Irene ( Rene) Hallet passed away August 12, 2025.
Surrounded by her daughters Cindy & Sherie and her devoted friend Gloria.
Rene was born on a farm in 1931 in Peace River AB to Czechoslovakian immigrants Josefine (Gejdos dec.1984) and Jan Lejsa (dec.1956). She was the middle sister to Milly (Helfrich dec.2004) and Eileen (Mydland dec.2017). She spent her childhood helping her family raise cattle, goats and tend to the garden. Family and church were the foundations of Rene's life until she left the farm at age 19 to start her adult life.
Edmonton AB was her new home where she was employed by Irving Kline Jewelers. It was there that she formed a life long passion for anything that sparkled. Rene spent her working years surrounded by fine jewelry, her longest position was at Peoples for 27 years. It was in Edmonton that she met the love of her life Albert Hallet (dec.2006), and was married in 1956. They welcomed their first daughter Cindy in 1959 and Sherie in 1962. Rene loved being a mother and a homemaker. You would always find her in the kitchen preparing meals all the while singing to the Beach Boys or Anne Murray. She loved music, red roses and date night dancing with her husband until the wee hours of the morning. Together they saw the world, travelling many times to Europe, Mexico, Hawaii, and Cuba.
Devoted to her faith and church, Rene was a member of the women's committees and volunteered in the hospitality ministry for many years.
Kelowna was their home for 30 years until the passing of her beloved Albert in 2006 sharing 50 years of marriage. Rene moved to Kamloops to be closer to Sherie and her husband Rod (Guild) and her most cherished grandson Doug (Guild). It was there Cindy (Ed Kennedy) would return to frequently from
Central America to spend time with Rene.
Kamloops Senior Village ( BEECH ward ) was her final home where she received exceptional, compassionate and loving care until the end of her life. We are eternally grateful to all the caring hands at KSV that made our mother's final years so comfortable and happy. She truly loved living there.
Her absence from our lives is sorrowful, but the we take comfort in knowing that mom loved the Lord and wanted to go home. She's dancing with her cherished Albert again.
Rene will be buried along side Albert in the Bentley AB family plot surrounded by all who have gone before her.
" I love you big "
