I've known John for many years since meeting in high school.  Unfortunately we lost touch in the '90's but I've thought of him every year on July 1st, wished him a silent Happy Birthday and hoped he was doing well.  I was saddened to only recently hear of his passing.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at the loss of a very kind, strong and caring person.  I remember his sparkling blue eyes and big laugh.  A group of us from high school had many good times with John, and I will always remember him with love, kindness and warmth for his beautiful soul, in better days.  There are no words to describe the sadness of John making the ultimate sacrifice to mental illness, it takes far too many.   My heart goes out to him for the suffering he endured and to his daughter who was with him at the end, I'm glad he wasn't alone. John and I graduated high school together  and shared the same circle of friends.  I never saw him after high school because I moved away.  Although John liked to always project a "tough guy" persona, we were all friends and shared many good times and laughs together.  I offer prayers and empathy to all who suffer mental health issues.  I wish I could have been there in later life to make a difference John.  May you rest in peace.  Your friend, Rob Fekete.
