Phillip Martin Walls

Phillip Martin Walls of Kamloops, B.C. passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026 at the age of 69 following a courageous multiyear battle with health complications including MS.

Phil was born in North Vancouver in 1957. He lived a short time in Seton Portage before moving to Cranbrook in 1962. Phil grew up in Cranbrook where he excelled at hockey.

Phil worked as a grocery clerk for 37 years in various places around the province including Kimberley, Kitimat, Burns Lake, Maple Ridge, and Kamloops. Phil enjoyed activities especially golf until his health prevented him from playing. Phil liked gathering with friends and family around a table of good food. He was a natural host who made everyone feel welcome.

Despite Phil’s physical challenges he remained cheerful and upbeat. He had a deep passion for helping others. Phil lived a life defined by kindness, understanding and generosity. Phil was an active member of the Thompson Rivers Recovery Club (TRRC) and spent a lot of years helping many people. Phil left an unmistakable mark on the Kamloops North Shore community.

Phil is survived by his son Chad and granddaughter Mckinley, brothers Garry (Lisa) Walls and Mike (Shauna) Walls, niece Erin and nephews Alex and Nolan. Phil was predeceased by his parents Joe and Cathy.

Our heartfelt thanks to the public health nurses, and staff at Ponderosa Lodge and Royal Inland Hospital for their kind and expert care of Phil. Also special thanks to Phil’s close circle of friends.

A gathering of friends and family will take place August 20, 2026 at the TRRC at 320 Royal Avenue, Kamloops at 1:00 pm.
