JEAN KLEPACHEK It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my beloved Mom, Jean on August 12, 2018. She was born in Lacombe, Alberta on October 4, 1932. Jean was predeceased by her loving husband Peter on October 3, 2016. Jean attended Enderby High School, where she was President of the Student Body, played basketball and won awards for drama. She attended Victoria Normal for her teacher training, which she continued a teaching career for 25 years. Peter and Jean were married in 1956. Together were blessed with 60 years of happy times raising their two precious daughters, Betty Jean and Donna Diane and later on there were four grandkids: Mitch, Heather, Duncan and Jay. Her hobbies included square dancing, swimming, gardening and sewing. She and Peter traveled across Canada, to Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe, Cuba and also took three cruises. Jean was a member of Pine Ridge Golf Course and enjoyed spending time with her many friends. She was involved with the retired teachers, Operation Red Nose and the BC Hydro Power Pioneers, which she was instrumental in forming the Kamloops Branch and was President for several years. Interment of Jean’s cremated remains will take place on Friday October 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery. A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday October 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 177 Tranquille Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jean would be appreciated to the Canadian Cancer Foundation or the Kamloops Hospice Association.

Betty and family,
I'm so sorry about your mom. She was a wonderful teacher (I was lucky enough to have her for 2 years) and a wonderful person. It was in her Grade 2 class that I decided to become a teacher (so that I could be just like her) and because of that, I had a career that I loved. Although I haven't seen a lot of her over the years, we still did get together from time to time and I always considered her a friend as well as an inspiration. I'll look forward to seeing you on October 6.

I had the privilege of having Jean as my grade 2 teacher and again helping her and Peter as their realtor. I have good memories of some very good people. Dianne and I will be away on a river boat cruise celebrating my recent retirement and therefore not able to attend the funeral. Our prayers are with you as you celebrate the life of Jean. She will be missed.

I would like to acknowledge Jean’s many years of community service. As a founding member of the Kamloops chapter of the BC Hydro Power Pioneers, she was instrumental in making Kamloops a better place to live. Her volunteer involvement in fundraising and other activities supported several local organizations, including Kamloops & District Crime Stoppers and Operation Red Nose.

Our condolences go out to the family. She will be missed.
