

Steve Usipuik passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, at 12:55 a.m. at the Royal Inland Hospital. Steve was born on January 8, 1932, in Wynyard, Saskatchewan, to William and Helena Usipuik. He lived a life marked by wisdom and creativity.
Steve was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Bernice, and his two sons, Barry and Glenn.
Steve is survived by his daughters Debra (George) Wyers and Venetia (Gordon) Rexin; his four precious grandchildren, Ryan (Cheryl) Rexin of Gibbons, AB, Kayla (Greg) McDonald of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Joanne (Allen Okoye) Wyers of Kamloops, and Judy (Brandon) Eggar of Cranbrook, BC. Steve also had four great-grandchildren: Sage Abagail, Noah Grace, Axilia Lilx, and Lincoln Eli.
Steve was the youngest of eight siblings. He met Bernice Chorney in Wynyard, and they were married in 1954. Soon after, they moved to Ontario, where they spent the next nine years, before settling in Kamloops, which they made their home ever since.
Steve was a true handyman, there was nothing he could not do. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved camping. One of the things he took the greatest pride in was his garden, and many people knew he had a remarkable green thumb.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Schoenings Funeral Service, 513 Seymour Street, Kamloops, BC.
The Reverend Father Andrzej will celebrate the funeral mass at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church on Friday, February 13, at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow at the church, after which an interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery at 1:45 p.m.
