

On December 20, 2025, Wayne passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, he was 73.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 51 years, Brenda, his children Steven, Jamie and Leah (Adam), siblings Dorothy (Kevin), Jim (Fatima), grandchildren Ethan, Ryly, Linden and Ava, & many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Velma and Bill, sister Bonnie, bother Cecil and granddaughter Kiley.
Born in Mission, BC to William (Bill) Bittner and Velma Jones later moving to Salmon Arm where the family purchased the Salmon Arm Motel until the family moved to Forest Grove, BC where he met his future wife Brenda in the summer of 1971 and later wed in June 1974. Together they purchased Wayne’s childhood home in Forest Grove and raised their 3 children in the same house he grew up in. After many years in Forest Grove they eventually sold the home and moved into 100 Mile House.
Wayne worked at Ainsworth for 22 years. When Ainsworth sold to West Fraser, he continued until his retirement in 2015. He found himself seeking something to occupy his time post retirement when he started flagging. He enjoyed the variety of locations this job presented and often posted on social media about his journey’s. Wayne also served as president of Citizen’s on Patrol in 100 Mile House working with the local RCMP for many years. He loved his community and especially loved his morning coffee and apple fritter at Timmies. He was the master of making his famous stuffing and roast turkey with homemade apple pies. Wayne was a kind, caring and fair man. He was very understanding and always gave people the benefit of the doubt. Wayne left an impression on anyone he worked with or crossed paths with.
In 2024 Wayne and Brenda purchased a home in Kamloops, BC and relocated to be closer to their children and grandchildren. While it was only a short time his family was able to spend with him, the memories and laughs will always be cherished. He will be deeply missed by his family and anyone that knew him.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date yet to be determined.
