Charles James Owens

March 20, 1934, to January 22, 2025

Born Charles James Correa in Honolulu then moved to Puunene, Maui where he was raised. He joined the Military (Army) in 1956 and changed his name to Charles James Owens. Married to our mom, Lois Bernadine Coelho in 1957 for 61 years until she passed away in October 2018.

He was employed for the DOE as Head Custodian for Central Intermediate School and Kaiulani Elementary School where he retired after 38 years of service.

He is survived by his children:

Charlene Kaiwi-Pacheco (George), Charlotte Nahinu-Liberato (late Irvin “Manu”),

Cheryl Beimes (Dale), Charmaine Voss (late James “Jim”), Charles (Chuck) Jr. (Dovina).

13 Grand Children:

William “Danny” Pacheco Jr., Dacha Nahinu, late David “Kawika” Nahinu Jr., Damien

Nahinu, Jamie Liberato, Edmund Kahekilii Heu Jr., Chaun Heu, Chauna Heu, Chad

Candace Owens-Manganag.

29 Cherished Great-Grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Wake services for Charles will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. Family visitation will be at 4:00pm, public viewing is from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Prayer service and remembrance will begin at 6:00pm. Private committal service and burial at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery.
