A devoted and caring Mom, Wife and Grammy who will forever be remembered for her kindness, warm heart, generosity and love of all things glittery and sparkly, Daune was bestowed her final wings on December 16, 2025.
Born in High Point, NC and known lovingly as "Babe", she found her passion for service and travel as a child moving around Europe (Germany and Turkey) while her father was in the Army. Resettled in North Carolina, she pursued her dream of becoming a Flight Attendant and began flying with United Airlines at just 20 years old. During her time with UAL she became known as "De’” and was the epitome of the Friendly Skies for over 30 years from HNL to Chicago, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
Based early in Hawai’i, she never took her 55 years here for granted, relished in the beauty of her island home and was always up for a sightseeing drive. She enjoyed sharing daily scenes online and welcomed anyone who wanted to visit her with open arms. De’ deeply cherished her family and loved ones and enjoyed every moment together with them. She appreciated beauty in all forms, loved a good laugh or stage show and embodied a sense of Southern Charm + Aloha Spirit everyone respected her for. Her legacy will continue each time we see a flamingo, collect a seashell, bop along to Doo-Wop or embrace her nature of compassion, acceptance and unselfishness.
Deʻ leaves behind her husband Kenneth “Kimo” Kimura; daughter Kehaulani and son-in-law Chuck Volhein; stepson Keith Kimura; stepson Kyle Kimura and daughter-in-law Joyce Akamine-Kimura; and grandchildren Hayden and Hannah Volhein, and Chase and Cameryn Kimura. She is reunited in heaven with her mother Myra Daune Bottoms; parents Harold and Rachel Cuff; sisters Dale Juelich and Anne Westbrook; and brother John Cuff.
In honor of her wishes, no services will be held. Condolences may be sent to Kehaulani and an address will be provided via email contact ([email protected]).
