Diane Laniuma Phillips, a devoted and generous individual, passed away on January 9, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on November 28, 1949, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Diane was a resident of Waianae, Hawaii, at the time of her passing.
Diane is survived by her loving husband, Walter "Rick" Phillips, her daughter, Shawn Edayan (Marcus), and her son, Derrick "Kaimi" Phillips (Alvida). She leaves behind a cherished legacy through her grandchildren: Sapphire Edayan, Marcus Edayan, Jr. (Kimberly), Marsailles Edayan (Cyarra), Marcello Edayan, Alexandrite Edayan, Turquoise Edayan, Kaimana Phillips (Ashlyn), and Zoey Phillips. Her great-grandchildren include Azurite, Maverick-Onyx, Marcus III, Marco, Kaydence-Aurora, Marcquinn, Marxtyn-Zayve, Marcya-Dawn, Banner, and 'Ilipuakea. Diane is also survived by her sisters, Marcella Dullea and Erleen Ah You (Ted), and her brother, Glen Gaison (Renee).
Diane was known for her faithful and selfless nature, dedicating much of her time to community service. She was actively involved with the American Red Cross, where she was in charge of disaster response and training, often working alongside first responders during national disasters. Additionally, she volunteered with OCRA and AYSO, providing first aid support.
Her involvement extended to her church, where she participated in the Royal Rangers at the state level. In her community, Diane was engaged with the HOA in Waianae, and a member of Hale O Na Ali'i, demonstrating her commitment to making a positive impact.
Diane enjoyed spending time with family and friends and found solace in quiet moments with a good book. She had a passion for creating leis from flowers, ribbon, and money, showcasing her creative and kind-hearted spirit.
Diane Laniuma Phillips will be remembered as an honest, hard-working, and inspirational figure whose gentle and thoughtful nature touched the lives of many. Her legacy of kindness and dedication will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 9:30 am at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery & Funeral Services, located at 45-425 Kamehameha Highway, Kaneohe, Hawaii. A service will follow at 10:30 am at the same location. She will be laid to rest at 1:00 pm at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery in the Garden of Valley View.
