

Robert K. S. Tang, known affectionately as Bob, passed away on July 11, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on December 21, 1936, in Honolulu, he grew up in Kaimuki and attended the University of Hawaii where he met his wife, Lynette. They married in 1963 and later moved to San Francisco in the 1970’s and eventually settled in Pacifica where they raised their daughter, Kristin. He served in the National Guard and had a career working for the Federal government. He retired at an early age to manage the rental properties he and Lynette acquired in California. Known for his creative spirit and astuteness, Robert was also an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. His many other interests included cooking, gardening, and wood turning. These hobbies brought him great joy and peace, connecting him deeply with nature and his surroundings.
He was a kind and generous man, fiercely loyal to his family, and always ready with wise counsel or a helping hand. Robert's legacy is cherished and survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Lynette Tang; daughter, Kristin Ku; son-in-law, John Ku; grandchildren, Spencer and Violet Ku; and brothers, Gordon and Ronald Tang. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Violet Tang, and his brother, Michael Tang. Robert’s life was a testament to his enduring kindness and his profound impact on those around him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Hawaiian Memorial Park Glass Chapel on Saturday, August 10. Visitation will be from 11 am to 12 pm, followed by a memorial service at 12 pm. Burial will take place at 3 pm.
