

Theresa Marie (Yomes) Tamayo, age 59, of Waipahu, HI, passed away on February 8, 2025. Born In Honolulu, Hawaii, on August 19, 1965, Theresa was the youngest of 7 children of George Sr. and Florence Yomes. The family resided in Waianae, Kalihi, and later in Salt Lake. Theresa attended Sacred Hearts Academy from kindergarten through high school. Shortly after graduating high school, she attended U. H Manoa and worked at Times Supermarket Pharmacy and the Service Department. There, she met her husband, Virgilio Tamayo. They have two sons.
Their first home was in Mililani, and a few years later, Theresa and her husband purchased a home in Waipahu, Hawaii, where they settled down.
By age 50, Theresa became a grandmother for the first time. Theresa lived every day for her grandkids, visiting them or talking on Facetime. Her proudest moment was attending Linfield and watching Tyler play football. She was a fan of UH volleyball and high school football; she also enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, Oregon, and California, exploring and experiencing new things with the people she loved. At home, Theresa enjoyed reading a good book by Danielle Steel, watching Korean Drama, and indulging in some king crab legs with melted butter.
A long-time resident of Waipahu, she was preceded by her husband, brothers, and sisters. She is survived by her husband, Virgil Tamayo, her two sons, Baron (Alley) Tamayo and Tyler (Hannah) Tamayo, and four grandchildren, Samantha, Kai, Margaret, and Kove. Siblings: George Jr. (Joyce) Yomes, Paulette Yoshida, Diane (Donald) Marumoto, Gregory Yomes, Stephen (Dorothy) Yomes, David (Noelani) Yomes, and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service is on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park & Funeral Services.
