Albert Lee Crouch, affectionately known as “Lee,” passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, just weeks shy of his 95th birthday. Born on July 22, 1930, in Thayer, Kansas, to Guy and Garnetta (Price) Crouch, Lee lived a long and meaningful life marked by service, integrity, and a deep love for his family and community. After the passing of his father at a young age, Lee was proudly raised by Alva Floyd, who played a significant and loving role in his upbringing.
Lee honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War, following in the footsteps of his beloved brother Walter by enlisting. He continued his military service for a total of seven years. After completing his time in the Navy, Lee again followed Walter’s example by serving his community—this time as a proud member of the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department, where he dedicated himself to protecting and serving others.
He was married to the love of his life, Nettie, for over 65 years—a partnership built on devotion, humor, and unwavering support. Together, they created a life full of love, warmth, and shared memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew them.
Lee was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Rockwood Country Club. Known for his smooth swing and competitive spirit, he won numerous trophies and accomplished the rare feat of seven holes-in-one. One of his proudest moments on the course was the time he played a round with Bob Hope. Although health issues forced him to give up the game at age 60, his passion for golf and the friendships it brought endured.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, beloved stepfather, Alva Floyd and brother, Walter Crouch.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nettie; daughter, Gwen Patterson; son-in-law, Mike Patterson; two granddaughters, Jenny (Ryan) and Missy (Jon); and four great-grandchildren, Carter, Brandon Lee, Rosie, and Jamie. Affectionately known as “Uncle Lee,” he is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom will fondly remember him for his kindness, strength, and unforgettable storytelling.
Lee was the kind of man who brought people together. His life was a testament to loyalty, love, and quiet heroism, and his memory will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A visitation will be held from 10:00–11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Interment will follow immediately at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
