A service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas, with interment following in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held at the funeral home preceding the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The family suggests contributions be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, https://www.nationalmssociety.org/.
Barbara was born on June 15, 1948, in Sedalia, Missouri, to Charles and Mary King. Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, baking, skiing, and shopping for antiques. In her spare time, she cherished being surrounded by her family and attending as many of her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's events as she could. Her family loved watching her face light up whenever her great-grandchildren entered the room.
Barbara is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Garry Bernard; her brother Jack; and her mother and father, Charles and Mary King.
Barbara leaves behind 5 brothers and sisters: Jeanie, Chuck, Carol, Kathy, and David; many nieces and nephews; a daughter, Becki, and her husband, Steve Sines, of Tonganoxie; a son, Mitch, and his wife, Traci Bernard, of Las Vegas; 6 grandchildren: Kendall (Molley), Andrea, Jared (Brittany), Jessica (Nick), Taylor, and Karley (Ka'imi); and 14 great-grandchildren with one more on the way: Lincoln, Brooklyn, Danyella, Amelia, Ka'imi, Owen, Kailey, Declan, Evelynn, Claire, Eloise, Judah, Willow, and Blaes.
